Hello All,
So last night, while researching the motor for my moke, i came across the fact that some of the all wheel drive hybrid Lexus's have a stand alone electric motor transaxle in the back.
I wasn't able to find much about them other than a few pictures and the specs of the car which says that in the RX400h this rear motor is 50kW PM motor. I found a reference in a first responders leaflet for them that there was 650v somewhere. Does anyone know anything more about them? Had any experience?
If it really does operate on 650V would rewinding for a lower voltage be possible?
It looks quite compact from the picture.
Cheers,
Electric transaxle from lexus/toyota hybrid

Well, there is this older topic:
RX400H transaxle. Note that the comment re 288V operation is contradicted later; there is a boost converter to 650V in the original vehicle.

Re: Electric transaxle from lexus/toyota hybrid
Thanks coulomb, how did I not find that when I searched...
I see they came to the conclusion that only 30kW could be obtained from it, back in 2011.
I will see how much the transaxle can be obtained for and decide if it is worthwhile pursuing.
