More likely to be a fault with a sensor.
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

Service Parking brake error again

Last year the electronic brake was still operational even with the fault message present. This time the car rests on its park gear and crunches a bit if on a slope getting out of park

fixed now, seemed to be wiring of some sort.
