ECU Leaf review

Post by g4qber » Sat, 03 Aug 2013, 03:22

autolights not fooled by freeway bridges, unlike the imiev, toyotas and lexuses
37kmh cruise control minimum
whine when regenning
electric park brake activates even at 10kmh, can cause kangaroo hopping.
speedo is +6kmh at 100kmh
sat nav has 100kmh speed limit display
brakes feel hard
I grew 2 trees on a 23km trip
I used Eco mode
somehow steering under acceleration can get out of hand.

I planted 600 trees on the farm this year, does that count ? Image

Torque steer under acceleration is FWD characteristic... but means there is plenty of torque.

Hey g4, did you get the autolight sensitivity adjusted here You can't keep complaining if the adjustment is there.

37km/h cruise min ? surely an observation only, not a problem.

All things considered, nice EV ! Image

hi ac
how to get autolights fixed?
have you modded yours?

coming close to 30k service, got the letter in the mail.
official 1 year service is in oct.
will probably cross 30k in a fortnight.

Aus 1st Gen Leaf might be OK for seniors since they may have less sensitive ears.
volt seems quieter than Leaf when running in Normal & Sport EV mode.

I don't mind the whine when accelerating, but whine when regenning can be annoying.
will be interesting to see if next gen Leaf has whine. When it arrives I should take it for an afternoon test drive.

I believe that it is important not to accelerate while turning the steering wheel.
Somehow haven't noticed this on the volt, yet. Will try it soon.

stereo is good in the Leaf. On the iMiEV somehow I have to increase the volume levels to midway now. Don't know if this is a fault.
in 2004 Prius AM volume levels were markedly lower than FM; was annoying.
Golf was OK.
Volt is OK.

Leaf seemed almost eerily silent to me....but then I drive a Cat powered bus all day so everything is relative!

Then you need to drive these - the future beyond the confines of light rail

They have beaten the Americans. Imagine this in all highways ( aka Solar Roads ) where EV battery only required from highway to home.
Yes,   we can.   Image

consumer reports noticed the whine.
45-50mph
2min 40secs into Consumer Reports Review.

I need to make sure this is gone before I get Gen 2 LEAF.
Volt & 2004 prius also have similar whine.
Volt's whine occurs in HOLD mode; when slowing down / accelerating.

on a tangent,
keep dogs away before playing this clip

Put a dog or 18 year old in the car. Hopefully they'll be able to hear the whine. Also try this with Holden volt in "HOLD"en mode. Ooh I love the wordplay
Whine in volt is on acceleration and deceleration
This also goes for the Prius.
Seems to come from the centre console in the volt

note that Duncan is 113 years old.

get a wife to listen carefully to the whine too.
