Talked to a Qld transport approved modification engineering inspector today and he said that at present Qld are using the national code of practice but as such he is required to complete an engineering report that goes to Qld transport before mod plates are issued. However, come the beginning of next year Qld transport are adopting the national code as their own which means that he can do the inspection, sign off and issue mod plates.

I hope this doesn't get delayed as it would make the process quicker.

Yeah that'd be good - lots of cars on e-bay in QLD prime for conversion.
Almost tempted to fly over have a mini holiday buy a car and drive it back to WA!

Qld to West Oz is a looooong trip! It's good to see that the govt is doing something even if a bit slow. Just saw a movie on peak oil, a bit disturbing but they never mention electric only nuclear, solar, hydrogen as alternaive fuel sorces.

There was a mocumentary series on SBS some time ago about what happens when the fuel runs dry - I think they were french made but in english.
The series went over a number of weeks.
Was very bleak looking but a real eye opener of things that could potentially happen.

We have plent of coal anyway so won't get too bad for Australia.
Bad for the environment though.
Unlikely Australia will go nuclear.
Even though I could probably get a job as a nuclear technician.
I could live the real Homer Simposn life!

Hi Hatchet,
Who was the engineer you spoke to ?
I'm trying to find an EV sympathetic one !

So far, I've sent in my application to Qld Transport as to my intention to convert my car. They then sent a response which basically said follow the national LV code and get an engineers report. It was a fairly positive reply which is good.
So now I just need a good engineer......
