Edit 4: I've finally admitted that there is no such collective noun as "peck".

That looks cool, 40 Tesla's in a cruise.
hope they didn't all recharge at once, might cause a black out Image

Is a peck (pack?) the collective noun for Tesla's?
I wonder what the collective noun for a group should be,
A Cell of Ev's
A volt of EV's
A Grin of Ev's Image

an others

I think i will need more then 1 new job to get 1 of those. Though maybe simon will want to sell his LHD version (not road legal), once his RHD UK version makes a showing?

What else would you expect from a Prius driver, insulted that the car in front had better economy and emission figures I guess.

On the positive side there could be some cheap EV conversion parts available.

Note it is a Prius, not an Avensis as the story says. (See FlickR)

The photos look fake to me; the car on top should have at least a scratch!

Edit: oops, it seems it has a few scratches underneath, at least:

Image

From further down on the Flickr page.

This sounds vaguely plausible:
"it has been suggested that the Touarag was in front and the Tesla wedged itself under somehow with the help of the prius. that does fit fairly well with the red body piece stuck in the rear of the Touareg and the scratches under it..."

So perhaps there is actual damage at the front of the Tourarag, that happens not to be visible in three photos.

Or maybe they're really strong, heavy vehicles!     Image

I think the collective noun should be a 'brevity of teslas' http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... ext-year/1

It's sad to see them go, even if it is some way away. More suggestions:

A pithy of Teslas (c.f. a pithy of truths)
A span of Teslas (c.f. of moles)
A trickle of Teslas (c.f. a prickle of hedgehogs)
A trace of Teslas (c.f. of hares)
A flash of Teslas (just came to me; has evil electrical connotations Image ).

Sounds to me like poor reporting. The Roadster isn't made by Lotus, for a start. It's built in China, and assembled in the USA. They're going to build the S in the USA, and I presume also the Roadster. Which might explain the lack of a 2010 model Roadster. As it said in that report, they're shopping for a factory.

That said, there's no mention of production stopping on the Tesla website.

Just between you and me, i know a bloke who was visiting the lotus factory in Hethel who watched the teslas being built. It's not built in china. There is going to be a 2010 roadster, they're building them now, like right now.

Huh. Perhaps the new model is being built in england, then? The first few hundred were built in china and assembled in seatle or wherever tesla are based. After that I stopped keeping tabs haha.

Interesting, though.

None of them were ever assembled in china. There were some battery packs that were assembled in asia, but no cars. All the cars have always rolled off the lotus assembly line in england as 'gliders' then flown to the states where they had their drivetrains installed.

Here is one of the photos from the teslamotors owners area, showing them being flown from england:

PS. I used to have one on order before the GFC killed my electric car.

I think I read somewhere the empty Tesla shell from Lotus was only 250kg? Maybe 350kg with wheels?
