And it is a nice looking car, isn't it? Very non-american, something sort of looks a bit Aston-Martin ish about the front end. I think I want one!

A Normal Looking Car...   Image

Now that's an auto manufacturer that knows what an electric car should look like...

Agreed on the Aston-Martin, that was my thought too, maybe the Vanquish.
James could drive one in the next film !

So how many billion $ to tesla ? 100B, 10B, 1B ok 500M then, what not even that much ? Image What ever it is, it is not enough !

I got the newsletter email yesterday, and man that car looks awesome. I hope they start selling in Australia, though I won't be able to afford it of course.

It says it can fit seven people! Must have a folding third row, and probably second row, too. Not bad for a saloon car.

I'd like to see Clarkson's opinion of this one. haha

*edit

It's only $72,001.89 australian! ...before import duties and gst and all that crud.

Also: How do they fit a 17 inch touchscreen in a car dash? It'd have to be in profile layout, and it'd be wider than a normal DIN slot. Awesome.

It says the 6th and 7th seats are rear facing child seats under the hatch.
Almost my perfect car, just needs 4WD and variable height suspension, and a 90% price drop.

Well the webpage says "All Wheel Drive is available" Image Image Sorry that does help with the other two Image

It's quite an interesting car, looking at it side on everything from the back of the drivers door to the boot looks a bit big Image Don't get me wrong I think it's very pretty and a good thing just that compared to what you expect from ICE cars the front looks a bit small or the rear a bit big...

I guess electric motors will change how cars are able laid out and we are just seeing the start of the changes... Image Image

Fine print says..

"*The anticipated base price of the Model S is $57,400.
All Tesla vehicles qualify for the full $7,500 US federal tax credit on battery-powered cars."

That's where they get the US$49,900 number from.

So where is the Australian tax credit / rebate for battery powered cars ?
Otherwise this little beauty is AUD$88,000.00 +++ more like AUD$120,000.00 landed. Image
Sorry Mike, it doesn't look like you can buy two after all !

Oh that's right, we backed toyota to build hybrids rather than mitsubishi to build BEVs. Image
Is that a case of hindsight being easier than foresight ?
