acmotor There are street circuits all over the world, Monaco has a fair bit of concrete. God forbid that motor racing should be dangerous.

Gow "danger" 864 they still wear helmets!

They do what's practical to reduce the danger. It's probably cheaper/easier to book a real track than an underground carpark, anyway. I can't imagine there's a large underground carpark in Bellingen :-)

I would venture to say that there is no ractrack in the (civilised) world that would allow unguardrailed concrete trees - Monaco, Adelaide or Bathurst. Check it out. It is not sport if it is just plain unsafe.

Bush Rally is the most dangerous motor sport because of the trees. Even the best drivers lose at that one. Peter B (King of the mountain) found that out if you recall.

Anyway, lets keep it safe. The first motor sport death in an EV will be a sad day.



Dicken, I gather you are leaving the emotor and batteries up to Rod in the specs ?

woody dead right mate, there's barely a car park in Bello. We do have Raleigh international raceway nearby though. A huge go-kart track might be close to 1km per lap. I've been there a couple of times and even in a 4 stroke 9 horse kart it's a hoot!

Even if electric karts can't compete directly with icemobile karts, the times around the track can speak for themselves.

Yeah I don't think you will ever be able to race against an ice kart in competition but you will be able to test against them. The J for Junior doesn't mean it's just kids, my kart is a J class as I was looking for the cheapest formula and a way to improve my racing before I get some flash kart.

How many karts will be built? Unfortunately I can't stretch to my own at the moment but I will lend a hand if needed and I'd be very interested in coming to see some tests.

The chapter 25 AKA rules seemed to be general.

I don't really think you can relate the ice classes to the new electric karts which will be developed. The class should evolve and produce its own class or classes. I think whoever wants to make an ekart should buy a second hand chassis which would be suitable to run in either the ice’s J or S classes and go from there. The mechanical restraints put on the kart should be as I described in my first post in this thread.

Don't worry about the ice’s classes, make a separate one. I don't believe that ekarts and ice karts will race together unless some kind of baseline performance is calculated for each and a handicap system is in place for the slower drive system therefore no ice class copying is required.
