Isle of Man electric TTXGP

The electric motorcycle race/time trial is on today.
From practice they reckon they will break the old 50cc lap record with unlimited electric bikes, not sure if that is something to boast about or not. 50cc GP bikes are a far cry from mopeds though.
The lap is about 50km, fastest lap so far is 137kph average speed with about 160 top speed so it is not slow, but the 1000cc petrol powered bikes were averaging around 131mph (210kph).

Fastest bike so far is a conversion of a GSXR600 from Indian company Agni.

Anyone know if there is going to be something on TV about the TTXGP?
Next year should be even better.
TTXGP 2010
"So we have today started planning for 2010 with some big new changes.

The most significant is that we are now coming with bikes and CARS.

Bikes will continue to push the endurance forward with a new class in addition to the PRO class from 2009. PRO2 will introduce a 2 lap race with hot swappable battery packs for a pit stop. All coming to the Mountain Circuit.

Two classes for CARS are also in development. We have single seater and saloon car classes in mind. All pushing the limits of zero carbon at the greatest road race event in the world.
The journey continues.. more details to come. The date is set for August 2010."

The agni ended up winning, and just beat the 50cc lap record (set in 1968, the last time they had a 50cc class).
Maybe they'll get to the 125cc record next year?
