I read somewhere on the AEVA site that we were looking at filling in the gap-month with workshops at Les'?

Whatever it is, workshop or social, I'd love to come along.

If it was a more informal get-together, for say a bite to eat and a chat, do you think there would still be 50 people attending?

Hi all,

I will volunteer to have an 'open carport' on Sat as long as I get my motor mount painted / powder coated through the week.

The task will be to "Install the electric motor"

I will post here later in the week to confirm. FYI I am in Collaroy.

Kearon and I need a northern beaches branch so we are within battery range of a meeting! :)

Regards,
Mal.

Hi y'all,

Here I am, finally posting the aeva. I know a few of you guys off-line (ie: in the real world) already....I don't really spend much time on the forums these days - I'm too busy building the EV!

Big step - I got the Impulse 9 in the car today! Huzzahs all 'round!!!

And yeah, Mal - we need more EV'ers out around here on the Northern Beaches!

So I'm totally into this idea of a meal and hangout and informal EV chat.
As no-one's thrown out a venue and date yet - how's this?

Brookvale Pub. Pittwater Road, Brookvale.

7pm-10pm, Tuesday 29th July

On a Tuesday, they do $11 cook-your-own steaks and salad bar.
They have lots of nice Chesterfields to sit around on, and...wait for it....BEER!

Any takers? I know it's out of the way for 90% of people, but I'm used to travelling waaaaaaaay out of my way for these things, so you guys can travel for once!
(and it's not far from where the EV Capri is hibernating.....)

Any takers?

Hi Sydney Lurkers!

I have been browsing the forums for the last couple of days trying to get myself up to speed on EVs, and I have been hanging out for the August meeting since I discovered the website a few weeks ago.

I am still in two minds if I want to go down this track, I absolutely love trying something different and can often be found treading on uncharted ground, so the appeal of an EV is definately there.

The only problem is I don't know if it will satisfy my need for power for the amount of money I would need to spend. I generally don't do things by halves so I know I am likely to spend way too much before I even begin.

If the proposed meet (late July) goes ahead I would definately like to catch up with like minded people to see if this is my next obsession in the making Image

Kearon suggested it, and Mal and I have put it in our diaries, so if it doesn't happen, we'll enjoy a good steak without you :P

The Sydney AEVA meeting is the following Tuesday (5th August) at Kellyville.

I suggest along a similar vein meeting for food & drink there early, say 6:45 or so.

cheers,
Woody

Hey Lurkers, don't forget the meeting tonight, Striker and I will be there for some food beforehand. Park to the right of the place under the lights near the bottle-O if you want people to look at your car.
Mal, are you bringing your 6042 for show and tell/sell?
cheers,
Woody

Not sure if I'll make it early for a feed, but I'll be there tonight with my EV.

OK - It seems that all's been quiet on the Sydney Branch threads since about Sept last year!

Anyhow - just thought I'd introduce myself. On the EV front I'm only at the point of researching & saving at the mo, but watch this space - it may take time, but I'm sure at somepoint I'll be able to boast here that another registered ev has his the roads!

I live Pennant Hills way, so if there's any AEVA gatherings ahead, I'd love to hear about them.

Cheers,

Marcus

Hey Marcus,

The threads are a bit quiet, but we still have things happening every month.

The next event is early March, and will be food and steak at Terrey Hills.
You've only just missed our Branch Meeting at Rouse Hill.

I'll be posting info on the social get-together here in the Sydney branch area over the next few day.

Hi Masky

I too live in Turramura and an a retired Electronics Engineer, and my hands are not dirty enough!

For the past 3 months I have been wondering how to 'attack this issue' and the answers are now coming like the rain - a 10 to 18 kW AC motor with a good AC controller and the batteries will be in the order of 200 to 300 V.

Trouble is: I know that we all need a cheap good, reliable AC controller and this is the real starting point.

The way I see it is if several heads get together, then we can come up with a good prototype that is very likely to work properly in the shortest time.   Once those bugs are cleared out we can move onto a proof of concept and then make this generally available to the members.

I think we need to talk very soon :)

Cheers

We could start a Turramurra chapter (as long as you let the poor cousins from South Turramurra join)Image
