Interesting. I once heard of a company in the USA that had been building electric boats since before IC engines were practical. Still a small company, though they did build PT boats during WWII iirc.


That would be a great idea, though. Sail on wind power most of the time, charging your batteries as you go, and then when the wind slacks off or is in the wrong direction you can choose to stow the canvas and run on electric power! Free travel! :P
