EV Car Wiring Diagram ?

Post by Digger11 »

Has anyone found a detailed Wiring Diagram that shows a blueprint for building a safe EV Car ?
I here about Contactor's, Fuses, High Voltage, Low Voltage, Red Buttons on the Dash etc. and could probably work out how it is all connected - but a blueprint would be beter.

thanks

This may be of some use
http://www.osgv.org/
I have gathered a huge amount of understanding - but I am certainly no master - from
http://www.evworks.com.au/
Look for the technical pages.

Also, Wiki is a good source of stuff.

Cheers

thanks - soem good links there. Not to answer my own question, but I pretty much found what I was looking for on zeva.com.au. Which says it is now part of evworks.

One comment on the ZEVA circuit diagram: It would appear that the emrgency red button is low voltage and just operates the contactors. I would prefer to see it directly cut the high power circuit. If somthing goes wrong in that EZMS box the red button may not function as required.

Yes, but can you trust the red button to break 1000A at 150V? Most cannot, whereas the contactors can.

the big red has secondary contacts to turn the contactors off aswell (IIRC)

i wouldn't trust it to break under failure conditions, though it is useful to have in some situations, being used as just a switch.

But I thought you were not allowed to switch the high voltage in the cabin under NCOP14 as it is dangerous ?>

we get around this by having it where the gear stick used to be.
so the contact/traction voltage side is outside, but the button is inside.
all one unit.

the power to run the contactors is 12vdc, so the control side isn't actually high voltage.

thanks ant,

For some reason I have always pictured the big red button to be in the middle of the dash.

But putting it on the floor near the gear lever which would enable high voltage/current switching does make sense (especially in a direct drive with no clutch).
