Re: The Aptera is back

Instead the big coal corp gets the money with no net benefit to the environment. Err, Queensland Rail gets the compensation money in this case, not exactly a "big coal corp" (though one could perhaps argue how different they really are). These so called environmental protestors are handing the bask...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I just noticed that setting 13 has the note: "when selecting SBU priority or Solar first in program 01". Are you in either of these output source priorities? Oops! I just realised that I was using an MS manual, and the GKs are different. I had it in my head that only MKs (Kings) are very different ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

If the PIP switches to line mode after a 110% load event, it stays there forever until I completely turn it off and on again I just noticed that setting 13 has the note: "when selecting SBU priority or Solar first in program 01". Are you in either of these output source priorities? [ Edit: oops. Th...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hello together! Welcome to the forum. I own an PIP 5048GK We have a separate topic for the GE/GK/MG models . But since this is a protocol issue, and the protocols are more or less uniform across the models, I'm happy to let this post stay in [the PIP-4048MS and 5048MS] topic. [Edit: Weber: With Cou...

Re: Fast charging infrastructure - forward-looking overview

I was going to suggest the topology is capable of 150kw+ too, but then I realised as a continuous rating as you would for charging, the powerstage would need to be significantly better cooled than for just driving duty Yeah. That's the thing with very fast charging. You want to be able to drive for...

Re: Fast charging infrastructure - forward-looking overview

All the fast charge stations (at least the ones in WA) are AC fast charge too I see that they are listed in Plugshare as 50 kW. So that would be 70+ A per phase. Is that for real? Or just that it's an AC outlet in a box that can supply 50 kW DC so they call it 50 kW? I see 63 A type 2 cables for sa...

Re: 9 Nissan Leafs for auction at Pickles: 8 NSW, 1 ACT

There were 7 Leafs at auction from NSW a month ago. They were traced back (by someone on the OzLeaf forum) to NSW and local government. These were low km, but heavy degradation for the distance driven (I don't recall how many capacity bars they had lost). It was concluded that they were likely charg...

2020 Outlander PHEV

A friend recently paid a deposit on a 2020 Outlander PHEV. It seems that they are claiming some 100 km of all-electric range. [ Edit: it seems that it's a 2020 Model Year, which means late 2019, which means the model with the ~10 kWh / ~50 km EV only range battery. Sigh. ] He didn't take a photo of ...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

New versus old. The Enable line must come from that side? Yes. It looks like the control board is very roughly the same size as in the older models, and that enable line goes to the control board. It sure looks like an afterthought though. Edit: So the control board looks like it's at the bottom of...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

how does that get packed into a 3 byte response? As a decimal number. For example, 012 = 8 + 4 = 2³ + 2², so bits 3 and 2 are set (inverter and load relays are on respectively, everything else is off). Or 012 = 0000 1100 in binary, again with bits 3 and 2 set. Or as Weber emailed me; perhaps I shou...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

As I understand it the protocol uses ascii digits '0' and '1' to represent fields like this (as, for example in the QPIWS query). If that is so then your Status field description doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Can you clarify it for me please. Sorry, I forgot to address this part of your post. ...

It seems that I missed out on spotting a major piece of infrastructure that is presumably in that building beside the chargers (see first post this topic): the power and control units for the ultra rapid chargers. Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

Hi guys, I have problem with my 5KVA MUSTpower inverter, It's a MustPower PH1800 series, perhaps a PH18-5048 PLUS. This seems to be a clone of the early PIP-4048MS, with firmware modified to allow feed-in to the grid and 5 kW output. had just worked 1 year and got broken. It's a clone, so you don't...

Re: Error 05

Another thought: perhaps you have a load with a DC component, and it has magnetised your transformer. For example, some cheap hair dryers and apparently also heat guns (with a high and low power setting) use a diode to achieve the low power mode. This causes a large DC component in the output curren...

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

I wonder if the 11kW 3-phase is actually three independent 15A chargers, one for each phase This seems to be a common arrangement. Perhaps you would then get just 3.6kW charging? I think it depends on the EVSE. Some wire L1, L2, and L3 in parallel, and some leave L2 and L3 disconnected. (I thought ...

See how the moulded charge cable and accessory tray just neatly fits under the bonnet.

I can't be sure but I think, since converting to electric, my car has done 210 xenna nanometres? Whatever the xenna will get called (I'll call it a stupenda for this post), it's big. I mean, you might thing it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to a stupenda nanometr...
