Re: 1500 volt battery pack . not quite portable

125 x 12v 100ah batteries. That's $400ea. You would definitely need to make use of the inverters/ups to make it viable. Good way to drop 3 phase power on a farm/property that doesn't have access to the grid

Re: Brendon_m Moke

I've now received my very Chinese demister. The moke heater assembly was all rusted out when I got it so it never had a heater or a demister. I only need one for licensing and I'm a stinge, cue the nastiest heater box I could find. https://mmdtmw.bn.files.1drv.com/y4mXIp5g4qeRGBJz_NN1ir2EP-S73jBCGKH...

Re: Aluminium Air battery

I think the "journalist" misinterpreted the quote and then paraphrased to make it even more nonsensical. Reading between the lines I think the researchers were trying to say it's more energy dense than petrol per kg which gets about 500km to a tank and an equivalent weight of aluminium will go to 70...

What did it cost to run your getz? I just stepped out of a getz that was costing me about $50 per week for fuel, and now I'm using about $20 of electricity (not taking solar into account)

Re: Battery pack prices plummet

I recently got a price for a battery pack and the trade price (through my work) was about $4200+gst. I was hoping to dismantle the pack and use the cells in a conversion. It was a very good price for 16kwh of cells. Just had to wait a few months for a pack to be shipped in. I then tried to order the...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

Started making up the motor mount mounts this weekend, I damaged one of the mounts when I was pulling the engine out and forgot to order a new one, so I'll have to wait for that before I can finish up but it's all basically lined up and the brackets are made. https://k8dtmw.bn.files.1drv.com/y4mvE7P...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

I did a lot of measuring and then a rough mockup and yes, it's a really tight fit. But it does fit.
Putting the motor at that end is also what pushed me to the pmac motors as they are mostly quite short. The Me1507 has squared off sides which will make it miss the "chassis rail". Just...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Isn't that how you make a car reliable, take it apart and modify it as much as possible, then leave it in pieces for a while and do a rush/last minute reassembly to make it mobile because you're about to move house or something. And the project is never fully finished but it is finished "enough". Ju...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

While I don't own an imiev, did we end up with an approximate time frame/ quantity for an order because I'm fast approaching a point where I'd like to have about 40x 135ah cells in my possession and I'd like to hijack part of a bulk order.

Probably throw in nmc cells into that list as well at about 405kg

A good trick is to have an email account specifically setup up for spam. It'd good for signing up to fast food /restaurants for birthday loyalty stuff. They send me junk all year to an email I don't check and on my birthday I travel the city going from place to place redeeming free food from them all.

Been busy juggling other projects in my limited time but I've just about finished getting the coupling sorted. I had a hard time finding a 1.1/8 bore hub with a 1/4 key. Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

I think a sound generator is overkill and not going to make an actual difference. A way to alert someone that is not as harsh as the horn is a good idea not just for EVs but all vehicles. A bell is probably the best way as it's not a sound people hear as much nowadays so it'll attract attention bett...

Re: Toyota Hiace poptop conversion

The rule of thumb I heard for a 144v lithium system is range is 75% of amphours.
Ie 144v 100ah will give 75km.
So 40km from 60ah is probably a good estimate. That being said a hiace has the aerodynamics of a brick so it'll be worse no doubt, especially at speed.
