Yes, I've been watching your build closely it's all been very impressive.
Makes me feel bad because it's a polar opposite of my slap dash hack job.

Re: Brendon_m Moke

At this point I'm only looking for 10-20kwh. Weight being the main limit. Im lazy so I wanted prismatic cells because they're easier and seem to be more readily available both new and 2nd hand. My original budget allowed for around $6000 of battery in new cells. Because I bought the sirion that figu...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

Once you get it moving and take the finance officer for a short drive She detests the moke, thinks it's unsafe because it has no roof and hates the wind blowing her hair, so that probably won't work. I did look at prius/camry packs from wreckers but most wreckers I called said they have never had a...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

I've been doing mostly 12v wiring lately when I can find time. I got a bit of a run over the Christmas break and I'm mostly done. Just a few bits and pieces to tidy up but nothing major. Had a few setbacks, like my brand new indicator stalk having a short in it and the wiper linkage circlip ascendin...

1hp is 1hp
Doesn't matter where it comes from.
But they probably won't have an EV in the competition or it'll have its own class so the v8s will still be the best

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

May be an actual fault, as in the supply to the charger may only be 350v not 415v or a phase has dropped out or something

Re: Imiev repair - precharge resistor

Yes there are bus bars, but you can mostly just unbolt both ends and pull them off with a jiggle. In terms of the voltage, the plug you pull out to isolate the pack is in the middle of the pack so you're actually working at half the voltage which while I wouldn't recommend licking, you can touch and...

Re: Solar Panel output: Rating versus Reality

https://www.redarc.com.au/solar-faqs How many solar panels do I need? The amount of solar panels you require will be determined by the amount of charge that you need to return to your system during the sunlight hours of each day. For a 12V system, if you need to replace 100A/h of charge to your batt...

Re: Solar Panel output: Rating versus Reality

In the automotive world of panels you normally expect to get 80% of the rated output as a maximum and shading /angles etc degrade the output from there. 60% would be a pass if I was testing it.

If you don't mind answering, how much did your electric 500 end up costing you?
If you don't want to share that's cool, I'm just curious.

Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

I would think mandatory automatic braking as most cars are coming out with now would be the way to go anyway.
Then you aren't relying on someone to hear you. Even an ice car on a noisy street is basically silent

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

Also, batteries in the cabin get cooked when parked in the sun You would think I would have thought about that seeing as I'm currently battling that exact battle with the cells in my car IMG_20181217_064909.jpg But cardboard and keeping the windows down works. Not very professional looking though...

I was more going for plonking the cells in the back seat and stacking them up inside the cabin.

Could you ditch the rear seat entirely and keep the 4ws, make mounting your cell modules easier too.

Re: Seeking opinions on independent Twin motors with different gearing

Most reviews on hub motors tend to be negative as well. If they live up to their ratings then 10kw a corner would be the same as the original 40kw ice. (I assume it's 10kw peak not continuous, if continuous then you could theoretically push 200kw) However I doubt they'd live up to their ratings with...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

You can use just 1 set of scales some blocks and a beam to weigh each corner. It takes longer but is cheaper and you should have all the stuff you need lying around the house

Re: Seeking opinions on independent Twin motors with different gearing

If you could get it through engineering, something like 2 of these may work.
http://kellycontroller.com/96v-dual-car ... p-810.html
The motors seem to be about 10kw each on the 72v graph.
Don't know how accurate /reliable the specs are.
