Re: Home charging

It really depends on how fast you want to recharge. Manufacturers all seem to go with "80% charge in X minutes". But I personally find the best way to measure charge rate is km per hour, (although it does vary with driving style, efficiency etc) Ie a 10a 240v evse would recharge at a rate of 10-15km...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

2 tesla drive units probably weigh more than the moke shell although that would make a great power to weight ratio, but unfortunately I suspect I'd get in, take off and fry all 4 tyres in an instant... Reminds me of the go-cart I made out of a subaru ej25. Custom frame so it was basically an engine,...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

The majority of the floor / inside of the pods is a custom made job from the guy before me so unfortunately it wouldn't suit any other mokes. The top, sides and ends of the side pods are intact. I cut a big rectangle in the bottom of the pods and then cut/ground all the inner partitions out. The bat...

Re: Brendon_m Moke

The whole lot is installed the 2 side pods. 2x 48v 150ah (13s3p) packs, one down each side and wired in series giving me 96v150ah (26s3p) total. I've done up the cabling (mostly) as well now so I had the motor turning. On a side note I think the cable speedo is going to drive me nuts, it's horrendou...

Yeah, I work Monday to Friday and it (apparently) take 5 days to recharge my car, so my work week is 25 days long, it's handy having a DeLorean but getting the 1.21gigawatts from solar every day can be hard

Re: Can I use different capacity cells

The cells won't be a perfect match and heat, internal resistance etc will be different throughout the pack so it will have a tendency to slide out of balance. But with a bms it should be OK. Its only a 12v pack so there isn't a lot of room for an individual cell to move before the overall voltage tr...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

How water tight is the dcdc? Could it squeeze under the aluminium plate and hang between the motor and radiator? Or maybe the gearbox and radiator. Hard to judge by pictures but it sort of looks like it might fit.

Re: VF2 SSV Redline - Hybrid EV conversion?

If you want to go hybrid, I agree with what Francisco said, good luck squeezing in an electric motor in the engine bay with an engine there already. You could go hub motors but it'll probably be underwhelming, and engineering nightmare (making everything fit and work well) and I haven't seen anythin...

Re: Starting to research vintage Mazda conversion. Help appreciated.

If you keep the gearbox you can drive it like a normal manual car but you will probably end up just putting it in one gear and leaving it there and driving the car like an auto. With the instant torque of electric motors and the normally wide rpm range you don't really need multiple gears (depending...

Re: Non OEM Leaf battery upgrade?

170wh at 3.6v (my guess is they are ncm cells because they use the original bms) is 47ah.
So 44kwh at 315v is 140ah that makes it 88s3p

Re: LFP SOC vs Pack Voltage

Not that it answers your question and all scenarios are different but I have a little diahatsu that has 44 x 3.2v 100ah cells that are a bit rough and I've managed 98km on a charge and most of the drive was at 90/100kmh with a/c but that was absolutely scraping the bottom of the barrel. I generally ...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

That's probably the fan relay, try using a multi meter on the coil terminals of the relay and see if there is a bit of voltage floating around. It wouldnt be much. Also try swapping the relay if you have one the same. I've seen water inside relays causing them to track and latch on
