3D printing replacement parts

While you might buy a 3D printer for $450 you will need to spend 3 to 4 times that to buy something half decent to produce a repair worthy of buying one. I have a friend in England that has bought about 3 or 4 printers over $1000, and each one of them has required modification to provide half decent...

Batteries

How long is a piece of string? How long the batteries will last depends on a number of factors. Firstly nothing kills batteries faster than being allowed to be overheated, so that is the first consideration. Second consideration is how often do you plan to drive it? Thirdly how far do you plan to dr...

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Definitely it is a balance between what you feel comfortable with and some good old common sense. My mum's partner drives his newish Corolla every couple of months and has barely any klms on it, but still insists on taking it for time based scheduled service. The mechanics are obviously taking the p...

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Interesting theory. Just thinking on the topic.... Only the fluid in the slave cylinder would get hot. Slave cylinder is ‘sealed’. Heating that fluid above 100degC would force water back up brake line to master cylinder and reservoir. Water is still in system. Clearly best to keep moist air off flu...

Electric racing will be more consistent even without timing aids, by virtue of what it is. You are in the digital domain to start with. Then you have the added benefit of no clutches or torque converters to content with, no having to make sure the revs are the same every time. We are at an advantage...

you could even go to the extent of having a light censer that will launch it when your light go's green lol No most classes of racing prohibit that. Electronics crept into drag racing years ago with a thing called a delay box. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delay_box which started all sorts of new r...

One of my favorite examples of how savage it can be off the line (watch his left foot on the clutch) http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley36.gif https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAo95Z7MPpw If that thing had tits before hand, it doesn't now! The were definitely revved off. Though I think on a bik...

It's not really all that hard as long as you have good hand / foot / eye co-ordination / good reactions. But electric drag racing would take easy to a whole new level. As I say I plan to just keep playing with the torque / power curve until it leaves as hard as it can without flipping (and that will...

Yeah you could make electric drag racing so consistent you wouldn't be able to touch it with an ICE vehicle. It's my intention to just have an inhibitor button on the left that I hold in while I wind the throttle on full, green light let go of the button and just have the Soliton 1 curve drive it of...

Just out of curiosity how many times did you need to back off during your run to put the front wheel down?

When I first started racing the ZX-10R I would often need to back off 3 to 4 times per run to keep the front wheel down.

Yeah very different animals to launch, my fastest times have come not from launching with crazy RPMs (10,000) but from something more moderate (~5,500) and even then you can't just let the clutch out you, have to let the clutch out to close to pick up point on the line and then gently release the cl...
