Seem to be a few sites around selling 8" Wheels and 10" Wheels

Voltage: 24V
Power: 350W
No Load Speed: 213 RPM
Loaded Speed: 181 RPM
Output Torque: 18.3Nm
Reduction Ratio: 16.5:1
Splined Shaft
Brushed Motor

So 181rpm x 250mm diameter = 8.66kph

Ok I see how the worm drive works now.

I don't think I will need anywhere near 100:1 reduction.

If I did the math right a 300mm (12") diameter tyre only needs 150rpm to do 8.44kph

Most of the motors I was looking at were around 3000-3200rpm ungeared.

3000 / 150 equals a 20:1 gear reduction.

Ok I was on the right track to begin with. So I guess the only question that needs to be asked is external chain or internal gears. Gears would make more sense to me as they won't get grass in them. Or you mentioned a worm drive, any advantage of worm drive over gears?

They are rated for carrying ~130kg around at a bit faster than walking speeds. So four would be 1400W(claimed) 260kg at walking speed. So I'd think the torque is reasonable for a mower - assuming traction was met. But this is where I think Ivan is right about the traction. You can see the terrain f...

Well isn't torque over speed the goal here, I mean within reason... Would need it to go at least walking speed.

Nope the shed is just on the next block. Picture 5 shows a drop off near the shed (neighbours shed is lower than my block). Picture 6 shows the other boundary (chain wire fence), so the main block is 70m deep by 20m wide. Picture 1,2,3 shows the ~40m long x 5m wide concrete driveway which is on my p...

Just to set the record straight. It makes sense to go AWD if possible and it seems it is (I wouldn't use the method shown, that is for illustration purposes only, as it was quick to draw). I would like to go all electric to power the mower blades, but I think that is a battle for another day. So for...

If I used these I would direct drive as they already have a spindle ready to go and gear reduction done. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/350/Prefered.jpg I have looked around and there seems to be quite a few splined hubs around that something is bound to fit. And if I went that direction I would ...

Still would it really be 300kg? How heavy is a 3 blade base? Hard to know how far over the top I will go... But I found a generic figure of 600lbs (268kgs) for a ride on mower, and considering some parts will be heavier (motor - batteries) and some parts will be lighter (frame - no seat - panels) a...

Found this prebuilt-2wd-66in-lawn-mower which is roughly the same weigh you're targeting. If I was going to skid steer it would, but since I need all four wheels to turn to avoid chewing up the grass it needs to be wheels.

OK well looking to do duel steer (opposite directions for very low speed, same direct for high speed) which means each wheel / motor would need to be able to turn independently like on a stub axle. So I guess that kind of leans me towards four of these and two of these for a combined power out put o...

I'm only thinking electric for the propulsion at this point, because a petrol engine can also be used as a generator for the wheels. Nothing on that motor website I posted of interest?

Is there a formula to determine motor power needed to propel 300kgs?
