Would be quicker if I had a look at your setup for that extra inspiration... Half cycles - thats a lot of sleeping for a controller! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley36.gif No orders until I have mine working nice in my eV and field tested in another eV with feedback for design issues/improve...

Thanks Cometboy. I'm curious, what does the $1700US turn into once it's landed at your door? https://www.zeva.com.au/store.php?product=34 AUD$2365 at the door. Zeva is the local distributor you won't get it quicker or cheaper by going direct. The link in a previous post prob did not work because yo...

This is why I was working on my own VFD, going the analogue route (most likely folly, but I'm more interested in if it would work, not if it'd be practical :P Mmmm I still think it won't work in an analogue format. Anyway I have been looking at digital and I think it is the most practical option. I...

Must read article from 1915. Charles P. Steinmetz

you'll need a 15kW alternator/generator to keep you going around 100km/hr - roughly depending on vehicle. Car alternators are about 1.3kW for comparison. UPS 15kW LPG Generator for comparison An Aluminium 15kW 2pole 3-phase induction motor would be about 85kg. You would need to connect this to the L...

dc motor/dc generator,

A battery powers a 12V cordless drill. That drill is directly connected to another 12V cordless drill that is broken. The second cordless drill prodcues VOLTAGE at the motor terminals relative to the speed of the chuck which is turned by the first drill. You will not get VOLTAGE back to where the se...

Forklift motors are series DC usu. You won't need anything that big (12") for a VW. He has lots of torque and no speed - no suprise since it was designed for a forklift. Bet he gets real crap economy too. A golf cart has low speed and low torque. When was the last time you saw a colf cart take off f...

Hmmm.... 200Wh/km is about 130km/hr for a '88 Toyota corolla. That's a lot of speeding fines - Don't forget to add that to the cost! Specs-> Cd=0.31, fA=2.25m^2, m=1000kg, Cr=0.015 150Wh/km would be a bit more realistic. The 1000-1500 cycles was a conservative figure to start - no point saying they ...

Type3: Hmmm the gearbox looks like it is incorporated into the diff. So at a guess I would say you have to keep the box/diff. Direct drive would be quite complicated at a guess. Most electric motors would be smaller than the petrol engine so should fit in ok - someone would have to get the length of...

AME8500 datasheet

Since most eV's have many kWh's of battery I doubt this chip would be of any interest to this group.
Maybe good for hand held device but not eV's.

Thanks for the info anyway.

Thats about 3.7kW. A little on the big side for a 250cc motor bike and way too small for a car. 15HP is more typical if you keep the gearbox. What you should look for is the TORQUE of the motor. This will give you an indication of its capability. In typical terms get your peak torque from the car (N...

6Volts vs 12Volts

Total capacity(Wh) = number of cells * Volts(V) * Capacity(Ah) eg if you have 24 x 6V100Ah batteries this is: Total Cap = 24 * 6 * 100 = 14400Wh Now if you use 12V batteries you would need 12 x 12V100Ah: Total Cap = 12 * 12 * 100 = 14400Wh Both packs would be about the same size. If you had a pack h...

Vacuum formers in Perth

cplastix defn had the vacuum forming as thier google hit so all I can assume it that they can actually do vacuum forming.
It may not be on thier web site I guess the only way is to ring them and find out.

Be cool if they could mould a "ZEVA" raised lettering in it too.

Ah so you think an accelerometer with FFT on DSP might be the go for the airbag...Hmmm I'll have to think about that some more. Is there a "CAN sniffer"? You could use it to monitor/save the transmission with a laptop while you drive. That way you can see what code they sent to all parts of the car ...

There was a mocumentary series on SBS some time ago about what happens when the fuel runs dry - I think they were french made but in english. The series went over a number of weeks.
