How Does Regeneration Work

"When you are halfway around a corner and want to change gears you have to guess where the paddles are going to be... " I find it incredible that one would want to change gears whilst cornering. It upsets the balance of the car and one should already be in the right gear prior to going into the corn...

Electric Shocks to charge batteries

"Shock absorbers are quite mis-named. They are dampers and not absorbers ! "

I agree and disagree. Clearly they dampen, but where does the energy go? It goes into the damper, thus the damper adsorbs it, therefor they should be named damper-adsorbers.

From the tesla fast charger instal guide: "For maximum charging performance, a 240 Volt 90A circuit is required. Although it is possible to use a lower rated power supply, this will increase charging time for the vehicle. If a 90A circuit is unavailable, you’ll need to de-rate the HCS’s charging cur...

Who cares that coal creates more emissions. Those emissions come from coal, not from the car. When the hell was it unacceptable to buy a toaster if you going to run it from coal. How efficient is an ICE powered toaster anyway? Coal is the problem, in about a billion different ways, from sulphur diox...

Lithium carbonate is selling for around US $8 per kg up from US $0.50/kg a few years ago, which works out to about US $180 per car for our purposes. Remembering that that is for battery grade material, non battery grade material still sells for only 1USD/kg. Here's a recent diatribe i pulled from my...

The other thing i should mention is that the Motorboard that i had did about 24kph, and had front suspension, but hard wheels. Ok, my concern, so to produce a hub motor, it must have the same weight and same moment of inertia as the factory road wheel for a conversion. i.e. same unsprung mass. (particularly in a high performance vehicle). When Holden, ford, nissan, toyota etc start to use aluminium suspension components li...

You're wrong about the gearing ok. I said ACP (which includes cars like the Tesla) have 8.25:1 final drive. You're average car has a 3.5:1 final drive diff ratio with a top gear of 1:1. The only time an ICE even gets close to having the same kind of torque as an EV at the wheels is in 1st gear, usu...
