eFXC 2015 - Australian Electric Superbikes

Jonescg, do you have a copy of the regulations for custom built bikes? All the websites seem to be down at the moment.

Looking at running a 2wd bike system as I have the parts atm and someone interested in racing it for me.

Who cares if he is a spammer. Its relevant information about a awesome project. Personally with the lack of good options on ebike frames I am hoping he really gets the frames off the ground. I am currently trying to get a few people involved in the project with the purchase of the frame that i will ...

Building an EV that can handle the dirt

If you do play around with chucking a solar panel on the roof of your car i suggest just linking the pannel direct to the fan, dont try and run it to the car battery as it will be more likely a drain on the battery rather then useful, you only want it working when its sunny anyway. Use a brushed cen...

MODIFY a RAZOR BELLA POCKET MOD SCOOTER

I will sum up some simple safety advice for modern lipo. Buy your lipo from Hobby king unless you really know what you are doing. Look after your lipo, store them in a non conductive container with no sharp edges. Most lipo failures have happened because a metal edge wore its way into the lipo and s...

Building an EV that can handle the dirt

Doing around 50kw per motor system would be around $3000
Trying to get to 100kw per corner $5000
Full variable regen and high efficiency

MODIFY a RAZOR BELLA POCKET MOD SCOOTER

Batteries are the problem, not the motor or controller unless they are getting really hot. Change out the batteries for lipo from Hobby king. Double check the inside of the controller that it can handle it, it should say otherwise look at the capacitors and see what voltage they are rated too then u...

Building an EV that can handle the dirt

Or you could build the car using BLDC systems. 4 motors, one per corner is the ideal solution. Water cooled BLDC motors are available and so are controllers capable of powering those motors to peaks of ~100kw. If you want i am more then happy to help you with a build or even do it for you at pretty ...

They are definitely linked. The gear box was designed to give better gearing abilities then a standard derailleur along with been more reliable. It also has the main swing arm mounted to it i think which then allows the tidy chain line that can barely be seen. Was too heavy for normal downhill mount...

They are the ipod of the ebike world.   They are very good if you have never ridden a custom high powered ebike, and they are still good even if you have. The frame is well designed for the purpose, the gear box is a waste of money and weight(the pedals are connected to the rear wheel), the hub moto...

Google "magura pot throttle" Its the most common pot throttle but if you can get your hands on a converter that you can put in a water proof place then the hall throttle you have is better if you are planing to ride in the rain etc. EV2Go i would have a look at using a normal motorbike throttle link...

That would then be low volume vehicle manufacturing. You would need a bunch of licenses and a quality control setup for a maximum production of 100units You can only produce 3 ICVs in a year. Fyi the frame for a hayabusa is not that heavy and for a engineer to sign off on a home built frame it will ...

Ironically if i was doing a build to your specs the bikes i would base it on would be a Suziki hayabusa, a BMW k1200 or similar bikes. Dont get weighed down with light weight as with the high speeds you are talking about and range then the bigger and actually aerodynamic bikes would be much more adv...

Construction of the frame would be a ICV. Ie a world of hurt unless you are really doing something custom. A EV conversion of a motorbike would come under NCOP 14 found http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx along with the ICV stuff. What are you trying to d...

Electric Karts

Its like electric bikes, the lower the power the cheaper it gets. Only problem is the safety factor of been able to run it on the race track. With the superbikes all the refs are trained what to do in a emergency. I don't think you would be able to put a electric kart on a track with normal race kar...

Putting an Electric Kart Through it Paces

The major problem i would see with electric karts is you will have to build up at least 10-20 drive systems including batteries so that they are a direct instal on the standard mounts for a go kart. Essentially have them ready to go and hire them out to racers for each race meet. You would not be al...

Problems with Electric Trike

Well you could test it by having the trike either on stands so the wheels can spin or against something that wont move, unplug just the blue wire and then turn the trike on. Then plug the blue wire back in and if the trike tries to move then yes you need to get a Potentiometer throttle. It should go...

Problems with Electric Trike

Are you sure the throttle you got from EV works is the correct type, hall and pot throttles have different start and end points which will cause problems with the controller. Most will have a safety measure against wrong throttle inputs. The throttle should output either 1-4V for hall or 0-5V for po...
