You certainly don’t want to tailgate my SR+ unless you’re into excitement.

Re: Phantom braking

Well 8.1 has been replaced by 8.2
Cornering is still clumsy......time will tell on phantom braking.

Re: Phantom braking

^^^^^^ dead right it’s buggy. This afternoon we got full regen out in the middle of nowhere. It decided we were suddenly in a 50 k zone ......after around 4 kms it decided we weren’t. If something big had been on our tail I shudder to think of the consequences. Do I really have to have a Twitter acc...

Re: Phantom braking

A YouTuber - Cf Tesla, has just brought to my attention that update 8.1 might be a trial for just a few and I might be a guinea pig for proving purposes. He says he’s on 12.1 having skipped 8.1 .........does that sound plausible?. All I know is that basic autopilot isn’t to be trusted under some tra...

Yes, the 22kW is AC but the Model 3 can only take 11kW max on AC.
Thanks for the clarification - I much prefer AC if I’ve got the time.

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

^^^^^ yeah, even so starting below 60% and sub 40 seemed a bit low.......and the other guy was still there when we left 20+ mins later. I notice some shopping centres have free 22 kWh facilities and am wondering if that’s AC or DC (I’m assuming AC)?. Will the M3SR+ charge at 22 or is it AC and limit...

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

We used the Tesla Supercharger(?) at Richmond on Saturday mid-afternoon and only got a max of high 30s kWh sharing as number 2 and again mid-evening just 68 as number 1.
Certainly nothing startlingly fast.

Re: Phantom braking

Phantom braking also occurs in standard traffic aware cruise control (TACC) mode Maybe that’s what I experienced on Wednesday on the Goulburn Valley fwy when we were cruising at just 80 behind another vehicle and some hesitation occurred as traffic blew past at 110. The latest update has made signi...

Re: Phantom braking

Yeah I wouldn't use these features personally. Quite a few complaints from M3 owners finding their self-driving features trying to kill them... :o The other dangerous aspect is corners will double lines and the propensity to dive to the outside of the bend, run onto the inner line and even the rumb...

Phantom braking

I’m really looking forward to the update that finally stops the dangerous behaviour. On a return from Bendigo down the McIvor Hwy the autopilot decided to ‘brake test’ a cement truck, on my tail in a line of traffic, at the speed limit. B dangerous and embarrassing, and needs fixing before I’...

Re: Hypermiling in a Model 3

Well it wasn’t hypermiling but our 270 km round trip to Melbourne today saw 111wh/km with a tailwind down and only 125 back into the stiff headwind.
Acc/autopilot behind trucks at 100 kph was very helpful I suspect.

Re: Tesla Insurance

UbiCar Insurance gives cheap insurance if you don’t mind being tracked with the data log determining your safe driver rating each month.
Teslander was the YouTuber who mentioned it and a typical month was around $40.

Re: Playing your music

From what I understand the iPod goes through an indexing process every start which can take around 10-15 minutes each time. The USB stick works ok after a shorter indexing process. It seems streaming was priority but the tech guy at JB (fixing an odd battery issue) said he was going to get an iPod f...

I’d like to know why my iPod Touch 256gb doesn’t appear when I plug in via either of the front USB ports?.
It appears not streaming is just so yesterday......or am I missing something ?.

If other makes of electric vehicles could use Tesla superchargers there would be more support for them.
It’s my understanding that they were approached but (patronisingly?) ‘declined the offer’.

Re: Tesla Insurance

FWIW and if you are a pensioner - rating 1 - garaged in the country ie the lowest risk imaginable, at least to me, then APIA was very reasonable at $831 with a bit over $800 excess and one windscreen pa excess free. No extra for monthly payment either.

Wow, we pick up this week!
Notified approximately 2 hrs after the Kota Ekspres docked.
I guess if you have limited storage and an urgent desire for the folding stuff you can expect quick service.

Well I have a VIN number and am tracking a couple of ships as it can’t be much longer before we get some sort of news.
Can you actually track a VIN number?.

Re: Model 3 SR+ Review experience observations - draft

Can someone confirm that the SR+ does not have fog lights.
Apart from a cornering function that my Citroen had, I’ve never actually needed them because super dense fog doesn’t seem to be around much these days.

Re: Model 3 SR+ Review experience observations - draft

Thanks for that Peter.

On another matter, I’m not too keen on sun glare from the piano black central console and wondering if matching wood trim would work in keeping with the Swedish theme.
It must be something nobody wants because I can’t find much choice in that.

I’m wondering if the mini BBQ will fit in there.

Finding the elusive charger

I’ve been to the Chadstone Tesla store but didn’t realise there were 4 destination charging stations. I’ve walked through the undercover car park but never noticed any chargers . Does anyone know where they are located?.

Re: Model 3 SR+ Review experience observations draft

CNBC’s Jim Cramer did a big number on fossil fuels last night -“I’m over fossil fuels, they are tobacco “.
This is a big deal because CNBC is about as amoral as any investment channel can get when it comes to making a buck.
Joe Kernen’s response would have been interesting.
