Re: Motor and controller info pls

So this is interesting. The photos in this thread are as supplied by the seller and are of the motor we bought. I note that there is a very similar motor for sale on this forum in the classified section. https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=6114 It even has the same builder's level holdin...

Re: Motor and controller info pls

Thanks Chris. Here are a couple of shots. Apparently it came out of a Vitara, which has been converted back to petrol.

Allan Staniforth, “Competition Car Suspension” might be useful if you don’t already have it.

Motor and controller info pls

G’day folks We have bought what appears to be a Kinetic brand motor and a Kelly controller. There is no plate or name on the motor. We did a Google image search and we think it is a Kinetic brand based on the grille around the brushes, however we didn’t get a link to a website with info on old motor...

Re: Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Just coming back to this forum to see what was happening. Great to see you are getting some outings in the car! It seems a bit twitchy in some of the videos; maybe needs a slightly longer wheelbase? Also in one of the still photos, 169a, the rear RH spring looks to be just about "coil bound", so if ...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

G'day Chris, did you get those links I sent you about machinists? Sent to your gmail address.

Also, you might want to invest in an adjustable reamer if you want accurate holes.

Cheers, Geoff

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

G'day Chris This is fascinating - you hit many of the same problems that any other car builder does and then you have to deal with contactors, pre-charge and fuses. Oh, and the small matter of battery construction! "skookum" - I'm going to guess you watch AVE? Thanks for the detail you put into thes...

Re: Dept of Transport Inspections

G'day Bren and Phil FYI, that is the same list of certifying engineers that we work from in the Sports Car Builders Club when our members need to register an Individually Constructed Vehicle. Our members have used Sam Rossi a lot in the past, but he is effectively retired now. Terry Southam is good ...

Re: 2018 eV Challenge

"The key secret design to the winner of class C was sand paper and clag..." Haha - yes, I saw the drive method and was quite surprised, but it does avoid the inevitable parasitic friction of belts and chains. The motor controller implementation was pretty ingenious, if I understood it correctly. The...

Electric boats

G'day everyone I have basically promised the wife that she can have a boat. But we agreed that we weren't keen on an outboard. So we came up with the idea that we might have fun planning and building an electric boat. It makes sense (well, for now, anyway) as in most cases the range requirements are...

Re: 2018 eV Challenge

Well, I attended the event as a flag marshal, along with my mates from the SCBC. It's a bit of a culture clash, as our cars aren't electric and generally don't even pretend to get good fuel consumption. However we understand some of the issues involved in the planning and construction of vehicles fr...

I belong to the Sports Car Builders Club and we often help out at this event. We'll be there this year. We may bump into one another.
