Re: 2018 Nissan Leaf!

Nissan will soon be confronted with the Australian market reality when the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Kona arrive! Let's hope they wont make the mistake of getting stuck with an inventory of 40 kWh battery cars and completely drag out the introduction of the 62 kWh one. Can I buy one of those lousy ...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Seems that imported LEAFs are thing, just this one dealer has dozens of them:
http://www.sydneycitytraders.com.au/veh ... eaf-------?
Mostly 24kW, but some 2016 30kW available at a premium, like $15k premium over a low millage 24kW 2014 !

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Seems good. This would be a "Wolf" pack (per this US centric but good Used Leaf post ), which is better than the original battery, but not as good as the "Lizard" pack. Edit: and it looks like there is $500-1000 worth of cables and adapters in the boot; ask if that's included. Edit 2: however, it's...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

My expectation would be one bar lost. Two if it has been treated badly. If you google, somewhere there is a description of how much capacity each of these bars represents - it's not linear. Ahh what the heck - I googled it. The first lot of hot links tells the story. One bar lost is 15% lost, 2 bar...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

The Leaf comes with a handy battery condition indicator right there on the dash. The large inner scale is the projected range for "today", while the outer scale is the overall battery pack condition. You can quickly assess when the condition is before even driving the car. Great to know, thanks. Wh...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

They weren't really any good for long trips in the first place, so you are not missing much if the range is a little reduced, unless your particular needs happen to be close to the range limit. That's what I figured. Even if 20% of the range was lost, it would still meet all my daily needs. 100% vs...

2nd Hand LEAF

So is a 2nd hand 2012 LEAF with 17,500km for under $20k (business, tax write off) a sensible buy? Or is it just buying trouble with a 5+ year old pack?

Opinions please...
Thanks.

Thanks, yes, that could be a deal breaker.
We need child seat restraints and reasonable access.

Considering a Volt - What Do I Need To Know?

I can't imagine any car built three years ago would have any serious issues. As for the ICE motor failing it would be an interesting proposition to see what it goes like without all that dead weight. What price? $35K From what I'm reading the petrol motor kicks in at high speed? is that right?

Considering a Volt - What Do I Need To Know?

As the title says. What do I need to know about potentially buying a 2nd hand 2012 volt with 30,000km? Good or bad idea? What is the maintenance like on that petrol backup motor? Does it still work as an EV if the backup motor is dead and needs repair? Other than the backup motor, what other systems...

The offset crash test result was not great:

With 5 star ANCAP rating and only $27K, and maybe sub $400 to transport to Sydney, SWMBO is excited again:

ARGH!!! Please pity me. We test drove the 2010 iMiEV and SWMBO was happy, I got a bluetooth dongle to get the battery specs, and we were all set to go buy one. Yep, if I get the car I'll certainly install one of those. A cheap android tablet fixed in the car with all the stats would be cool.

4)    Check 12 battery status. Many of the cars have been in storage for many months or more. Mine was replaced as car was in storage for 12 months. I assume you mean "12 month battery status"? How do I do that? I assume it's somewhere in the on-board computer system I can access through the screen...
