I-MIEV Battery Replacement warning

Hello Australian fellows Mine is now at 33,6 Ah. From 4/2011 with 88.000 km. Warranty is over. I made a battery claim last month. Lets see how does it end. Will make a battery test tomorrow in the dealer. My RRs when full are now normally between 80 and 90 km. With smooth driving, it can go to 120 k...

80km range imiev in winter

That recalibration was a disaster. Now the car thinks that can do 110 km when it is only capable of doing 70 km. It was much better before. I think the remaining capacity of your battery should be now bellow 30 Ah, with only 60% of the original capacity.

80km range imiev in winter

I bet that at 100% SoC G4qber battery is with all cells over 4,08V, well balanced. The problem is that the cells suffered from differential degradation, and some have now much less capacity then others, and will reach faster the lower limit of voltage.

80km range imiev in winter

The i-MiEV battery of G4qber needs replacement. Some cells are much more weaker then the others, probably internal cells that heat more then the external cells. The car in not capable of getting the SoC correctly because of the different capacity of the cells. It says 42,5% when it is very close to ...

Sorry about your i-MiEV and the kangaroo. That will sure not happen to me, since it will be very difficult to find one around here.

Looking for iMiEV Android App beta testers

I would like to be a tester too. I have an old I-MiEV, from March 2011, that is now with 5 years. I use Canion since 2014 and I have a recent value for my current battery capacity obtained in a test at Mitsubishi.

Yes, a second hand cell, from a pack of four. He should have another 3 with him.

80km range imiev in winter

I think we could use what it charges from 50% to 55% to see how much range we lost as compared to a new one (using Canion). Mine now charges between 540 to 550 Wh. I see in cars that I believe still have the range of a new one 620 to 630 Wh. Since I believe all of them can go to 0,0% SoC, I think I ...

We can see there is no cell with major problems. If there was, then range would go down rapidly. But that doesn´t show how much less capacity the battery have. For that, you have to see how much kWh it has going from 100% to a low SoC.

2010 iMiEV Regen on full battery

In my 2011 I-MiEV, regeneration is much less when it is fully charged. But it charges a little more then if it goes to 100% only by the electricity taken of the grid. The cells, when charged from the wall, only go to 4,11 V or 4,115 V for one second, and total voltage goes to 361 V maximum. But full...

80km range imiev in winter

So an improvement from 80 km to 130 km. I think the difference is almost due to the lost of capacity of the older battery. The battery will not retain 70% of it's original capacity after 10 years if it is always at more then 25 ºC. My 2011/4 i-MiEV is now 35 Ah. Don´t have the range of a new one, fo...

My i-MiEV is charging 549 Wh between 55% to 60%. It is staying like this in the past year. I believe it can go to 0,0% SoC, if it was necessary. So keeping it's maximum range steady in the last year.

http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/293/Ultimate_Malm.jpg Me68 found that cell 23 is not where I suppose it was (when switching the defective cell). In the drawing, 23 was found in the place of 62. So, the drawing is wrong. Is is possible that switching both squares of 40 cells, then all became corre...

Ok, not only temperature, time is also important. Maybe only time, and high temperatures just speed the clock.

I see your point and I also agree degradation will go faster in the first year, no matter what. But for me with temperatures of 40 ºC day by day without letting it going colder, will make degradation go fast even in a battery who lost already 40%. So, at the end of the first year, its all about temp...

I believe, 4 years and 4 months ago, my i-MiEV had 48 Ah. I bought it new in April 2011. At that time I was not aware about the effect of 40 ºC in my battery, so, in the summers of 2012 and 2013 I made several long journeys with it, day by day (I was spending more time in the car then doing anything...

yes, 2,75 V in the weakest cell.

The car in question was used in a hot climate. If the car is for many days constantly at 40 ºC to 50 ºC, then I will expect to see the capacity going down very fast.

It will stop with 40% SoC and one cell at 2,75 V. No doubt about that. Two years ago my car stopped at 14,5% SoC, and I'm not the only one who reported this behavior. But after some time it did a recalculation of its capacity, and after that, with less energy in every bar, it goes to 0,0% SoC.

Skylogger, thank you for the information. My iMiEV, with 4 years and 3 months, is with 35 Ah, so even less then yours. 48 Ah seems the correct number for a new pack.

"Is it a low voltage limit? (2.75v on any one cell) or just when the BMS reads 0% SOC on its SOC metering." The car don't run anymore, when it happens one of those two things. SoC can be at 4%, but if the lowest cell is at 2,75 V, it stops. If the worst cell is at 3,5 V, but SoC is at 0,0%, the car ...
