North Woolongong Fast Charge - It's alive

Well it's on plugshare, which seems to be the preferred system. I even put a little map of the campus on plugshare.

Also, it seems to be open 24/7 as there are no boom gates or anything to restrict access.

Here is a video. Sorry I got a bit excited.

Cheers,

Mark

North Woolongong Fast Charge - It's alive

Hi all, I took the Leaf from Earlwood in Sydney to the North Woolongong Fast charger today. This is the one Feng discovered late last year. Well its now functional. I used it today and it works fine. It's on plugshare, and there are some pics and a map. It's easily in range from the NRMA Strathfield...

ChargePoint McDonalds Dural

Greg,
what sort of turn out are you expecting at Dural tomorrow? Is it just you and me?

Also could you bring your Tesla to J1772 adapter please, I'd really like to look at it, and pick your brain If I get a chance.

ChargePoint McDonalds Dural

Is this going to be an initiative across all McDonalds or just this one in Dural? I'm Working on getting more ChargePoints into McDonalds. There may be 1 more in the pipeline shortly. What would EV owners be prepared to pay for a DC (CHAdeMO/CCS) 80% charge. $5,6,8,12? I'd pay $10 happily. Hey, if ...

Second on board charger

Greg,
a better option is probably the 10KW Portable 3 phase to Chademo charger Stewartm is using. He posted here: http://ozleaf.proboards.com/thread/754/ ... llTo=11221

Cheers,

Mark

P.S Did you end up getting a Towbar?

Portable generator

I tried playing with the eco switch. It made no difference at 10A. On or off it still worked fine. With eco off at 15A it started with the gen running at full speed, but once I plugged in the EVSE noise increased and it quickly bogged, before tripping the overload. With eco on at 15A it starts at lo...

Portable generator

Thanks for all your input, but I'm not quite ready to face reality yet. I'm thinking of taking the air-cleaner off, and taking the muffler off, and maybe even giving it a wif of Nitrous Oxide (no that won't work - it takes hours to get a reasonable charge, and Nitrous Oxide is expensive, but you get...

Portable generator

I bought this Generator with the hope of being able to charge when pushing extreme range. This 7KVA Generator should give 5.6KW continuous. This should be enough to charge two cars simultaneously. Before doing anything I did some measurements. The voltage is always 240V not 220 or 230. This means on...

Portable CHAdeMO

However, as Mark points out, finding the 3 phase outlets is the next challenge. 32A gives just over 20kW and 64A just over 40kW At least these are a lot cheaper to install than present CHAdeMO chargers $40k ++ Surely this is all transitional though..... The EV manufacturers will install ( dual purp...

Portable CHAdeMO

I've been keeping an eye on developments at http://www.emotorwerks.com/ and I really think we are on the cusp of a much cheaper 3-phase to CHAdeMO which is portable (as in you can put it in your boot). There is some fugliness in the approach, but it looks viable. The cost I'm expecting will be under...

Energy White Paper- Issues Paper-EV's

My Issues paper comments I have a bad fealing about this paper as it appears to be rail-roading discussion in directions which meet government agendas but appear to have only incidental relevance to the stated goals of the paper. For example: Oil is presented in a way that makes it look like there a...

Portable generator

I guess we would have to look at something like this 5KVA generator then. at $$639 it's a bit pricey; Peak rating of 5KVA , and rated output of 3.7KVA, it would probably be ok as long as the PF is close to 1 on the charger. Even with PF = 3.3/3.7 = .89, we would still be within spec for rated output...

Tuarn, how do you think that 4.4KVA Inverter Generator would go with a 15 Amp load. I ask because a guy on another forum has sourced a portable 15 Amp J1772 charging station    for $500. Though you'ld need to swap the plug. With that charging station and your generator the cost is less than $1000, f...

The death of Peak Oil (according to Kohler)

The thing that always annoys me about these oil discussions is when someone starts talking about all the money that's being sent over seas to pay for oil. This is such an over simplification. To a large extent the oil companies own the foreign oil in the middle east and elsewhere. Note how Kohler's ...
