Thanks to g4qber and antiscab for the feedback. Nice to have an outsider's comments! Gee, there I was thinking that deep down this was a marque and it's uniqueness was going to set it apart for the Porches and Karmann Ghias, or even above them. ;-) And I take the point about J1772 connectors, Matt. ...

Selling the ZEV240… Who said 'The more things change, the more they stay the same'? Well in my case Ive come nearly full circle. Here I am having to sell the wonderful ZEV240 (aka MR240) after all that building and driving - gosh Ive learnt a lot, much of it thanks to you guys on this forum - and th...

What to use for a Traction Pack warning light?
An excellent point, acMotorMan, thanks for the reminder. Of course such controls exist but perhaps they are not yet set properly. In fact I haven't read the details of the menu content yet as I haven't been able to get the cabling right for Zilla's serial interface. The fault is of course mine not t...

What to use for a Traction Pack warning light?
RE: Making a 'Low Battery Warning' more obvious: I hope this is a General Discussion topic - I have a Zilla 1000A controller and 45 Lithium 100Ah cells - sometimes called 144V, other times 150V capacity! I have been burned once already (not literally, luckily) and had to replace 10 of the cells a wh...

Hullo all and I thought I'd provide a better update than just silence - although no news is indeed good news, I would claim. Havent I been a bad boy… As jonesy so delicately pointed out in the post above - perhaps 12 months ago now! - I have been a bit slack in documenting the 'new batteries', insta...

Hi T1 terry Are you interested in selling these 10 cells? If so, what price and could you mark them with their cell number in your pack. I'm interested in doing further tests. thanks for the offer but Im not thinking about things like that yet; I have already been asked about selling the old ones of...

Thanks weber, that makes sense. Any chance of providing the original data so I can show Daniel, and use it to select cells by multiple criteria for example? I am guessing that there is still the option - costly in the short term, but maybe not in the longer term - of seeing if there are 21 cells wor...

NOTE: The spreadsheet extract below has formula errors in it. The same data but with formulas corrected appears in my next post . Apologies, Barney The WSR and the Improved one, WSI ratio, are turning out to be problematic. What exactly is the BEST cell? I find that WSIs of less that 100% are occurr...

Aha, he proposes a new improved WSR.... the WSI ratio? I'll do it! Im finishing off another task so can't get back to do this for a few hours but I *suspect* I could make that case that the improvement in granularity of the WSI over the WS one will be minor - even trivial - and would not change the ...

This evening Ive calculated the official WSR (weber sag ratio) for all cells in the ZEV240 traction battery. Therefore a figure of badness for every cell can be obtained as the ratio of its sag under load to the sag of the best cell in its group. Interestingly the best cell values of any set of eigh...

Aha, silly me. I'll look again at why 10 dropped off and 26 jumped on the new list, compared with the older one. And I love the idea of calculating a sag ratio or rating... Shouldn't be too hard on the spreadsheet, but not today. Off to work and stuff, hopefully tonight. Thanks, Hawkeye!

Interesting to learn about the chemistry as well as the politics of battery management and monitoring. Thanks T1 Terry, that makes sense. I'll have a quick go. The LiPo setting seems to be 3.7A too, so it might be just fine. The B5 menu isnt quite the same and there is no LiFe setting, but it looks like it might work if I set a small amps (0.5A?) and 3.7V? Or should amps be higher? Or there is a BALA...
