Hi
I'd like to know how many EV's we actually have running around here in Perth. I know of the Triton ute and the Mustang.
How many more are actually on the road?
Are these licenced - ie passed by DPI?
Thanks
John

I asked that question here but I don't think anyone wants to share :( We need a section on this forum that is useful - like what is legal and what's not with these conversions. What costs/charges/rego are involved and where for WA.

Make a Wiki or something on here, something that helps people who want to do a conversion after they have made the decision to say "yes" to electric.

Ok I've had my rant - no one will read this anyway because I haven't used the letters AC in it :)

I think the majority of electrics on the road right now haven't actually been relicensed since conversion.. In fact there's probably only half a dozen vehicles in total which have actually been licensed as electrics in WA. As such the DPI is fairly inexperienced with them - pretty much they'll just go by NCOP14 and require an engineer's signoff for anything major.

Rob Mason (owner of the Mustang and Triton) is definitely the person to speak to more about this stuff, partly because he's been through the process more than anyone else, but also because he's heading up the Safety Subcommittee responsible for revising NCOP14 and liaising with DPI on best practices for inspecting & licensing electrics.

Thanks Ian, BJ
Yes I know about the Triton and the Mustang (I am driving the Triton at the moment). I also know that your MX5 is just about ready (and the tidyiest job I have seen so far - congratulations!). I also know about a Daihatsu that was completed by John Bisby (who did most of the ute) but have been told that one may have left the state. There are also Rod Dilkes' Suzuki, Daniel Booth's Charade, and Tuarn's Sierra.
Rob has also just about completed his BMW and it is about ready to be licenced.
I am unsure how many EVs have been completed and are actually being driven. Apart from the Mustang, the Ute and Rod's Suzuki I am also interested in how many of the other completed projects have had the modifications approved by the DPI.
Cheers
John
